There has been a mill on the banks of the River Nene at Bugbrooke ever since the Domesday Book was compiled in 1086.

The Heygate family have been farming in Northamptonshire since 1562 and took over the mill in the early 19th century.

The family business has grown to be a leading company in both feed and flour milling with a reputation for providing quality products and customer service.  Each week the company produces up to 3000 tonnes of animal feeds and mills in excess of 8000 tonnes of wheat into flour, some of which is baked into several million loaves of bread every week at the company's two bakeries in Banbury and Manchester. 

As well as the feed and flour mills, The Heygate Group farms 5500 acres in Norfolk, and 2000 acres in Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, producing milling wheat, oilseed rape, beans, vegetables and salad crops.
